Gosh Gareth, just finished in time, well done & what a relief after all the unbelieveable hours you have had to put in to complete it. The painting is stunning and it would be great to see a photograph of it, on your blog, finally hanging in all its glory on the walls of Beaux Arts.
Marketing's just not my thing. I leave that to the gallery. They seem to know what they're doing and are taking my work to some very prestigious shows. Time will tell I suppose. I don't get a great deal back, in terms of hours invested, but art's subjective and nobody said I had to paint this way; I just think it's worth it for the sake of the work.
I don't intend to write too much on this blog. I'm sure you don't really care what I had for dinner, what the weather's like outside my house, or how I'm feeling from day to day. Instead, I'm going to use it to document my work as I produce it and show how the paintings develop.
G'Day Gareth,
ReplyDeleteAmazing paintings as always.
I've tried searching for prices of your work but everything I come up with is years old or has no price. Do you have a set price per size?
Good luck with the Solo Exhibition in the works...I wish I could get over there and see it...and buy something!

ReplyDeleteThanks you two, you're both really kind.
ReplyDeleteAs for prices, I tend to discuss it on an individual basis with the gallery. This one's £2,500.
By the way, I didn't take a picture of it in the gallery. Maybe next time?
ReplyDeleteG'Day Gareth,
ReplyDeleteIs that £2,500 what you get or what the gallery will sell it for? Either way I think you are underselling yourself.
For the hours you put in, the quality of your work and the small number of paintings you produce a year, I think you could rightly ask double or more.
I know you dont like all the marketing side and just want to paint, but you really should look at finding a wealthier clientèle. :-)
Oh and yeah it would be nice to see them in the gallery.
Hi Eugene,
ReplyDelete£2500 is the gallery price.
